In one of the most shocking election results in recent memory, Donald Trump has prevailed over Hillary Clinton and is the next President of the United States. We are horrified at the news, and absolutely devastated for the people who will now be in danger because of Trump and his supporters.
While we’re sad, a few celebrities have also chimed in, showing support for the minorities and offering words of encouragement to their followers who might also be scared and upset.
Niall tweeted words of comfort in letting us know that at least it wasn’t our age group that had voted, and that had it only been millennials, Hillary would have won.
It's a sad state of affairs but the one thing you can take from it is that map they've shown of how the young people voted.— Niall Horan (@NiallOfficial) November 9, 2016
Grin and bare with this guy.No one knows what to expect ,everyone's nervous but I'm sure the American people will have more sense in 4 years— Niall Horan (@NiallOfficial) November 9, 2016
Ansel shared his remorse over Trump’s win, and decided to tweet a few things. He urged us to dig deeper in the next election and to “Be informed, do your research. Look deeper than what your news channels or Facebook feed teaches you.” He also reminded us to keep caring, and to become better.
Ignorance and fear is what won him the election. His top voter was the white uneducated male, who's fathers still live in the past.— Ansel Elgort (@AnselElgort) November 9, 2016

The youth has to stand up and become more intelligent, less numb by the crap society feeds us daily. I will do it with you.— Ansel Elgort (@AnselElgort) November 9, 2016
Let's all pledge to become better. spend a little more time caring, hungry for the truth. Only us the people can make this better— Ansel Elgort (@AnselElgort) November 9, 2016
Tyler Oakley has always been very vocal about his support for Clinton, and he sent out numerous tweets in response to this tragedy. He grieved along with us, he mourned the tragedy, and he was hurt with us. However, his main point was to send support to your friends, to give them great hugs and to show them your love in this difficult time.
reach out & send support to those in your life who are minorities: today may feel like a deep betrayal by people many thought were allies.— Tyler Oakley (@tyleroakley) November 9, 2016
you're allowed to mourn; to feel hurt, afraid, confused. you're also allowed to feel inspired to get involved & work toward a better future.— Tyler Oakley (@tyleroakley) November 9, 2016
my friend gave me a really good hug this morning, please give your friend a really good hug today— Tyler Oakley (@tyleroakley) November 9, 2016
Like Tyler, Lady Gaga is also a well-known, prominent Hillary supporter. She frequently supported Hillary, and had numerous reasons to do so. Upon finding out the result, Gaga responded by reminding us to “stand up for kindness, equality and love.” Then Gaga went on to protest outside of Trump Towers with a sign saying “Love Trumps Hate”. Actual queen.
Katy was a vocal Hillary supporter, and still is a vocal Hillary supporter. Katy was, as expected, furious at the result. She shed a few tears like the rest of us, but then she called for a revolution. She urged us not to stay silent, not to take this lying down. Judging by the Twitter videos of all the protests happening around the country, it looks like people are listening.
Do not sit still. Do not weep. MOVE. We are not a nation that will let HATE lead us.— KATY PERRY (@katyperry) November 9, 2016

Miley Cyrus tweeted an emotionally charged video in which she called for compassion, peace, and empathy.
Even though many of us are on the other side of the world, it is very important to continue to spread love, kindness and happiness. Send love especially to your American friends, who may need it the most. Let your family and friends know that you don’t stand for Trump’s debauchery, and that you believe in all the things he’s against.
