Michelle Obama: "Enough Is Enough"

On Monday the 10th of October, Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the United States of America, gave a powerful speech directed at Donald Trump. She talked about how Trump treats women, and how society will inevitably go backwards if he is elected President of North America. Michelle Obama mentions that on the previous Tuesday, she invited young girls to the White House whom had faced many obstacles just to get an education.

Obama told the audience about how the 'Let Girls Learn' event was going to be her last as First Lady.  She said she “had the pleasure of spending hours talking to some of the most amazing young women you will ever meet,” and that she wanted them to “understand that the measure of any society is how it treats its women and girls.”

In her speech, Obama said she had walked away from the event feeling inspired; but now she’s sickened by the thought that there is a candidate for president of the United States who brags about sexually assaulting women.

Obama stated that she “can’t stop thinking about this” and that it has shaken her to the core. In regards to Trump referring to those harassment claims as “locker room banter”, Michelle says that Trump is not only disrespectful to women but to the men who would never say such a thing; even if they were joking around behind closed doors. “Strong men, men who are truly role models, don’t need to put down women to make themselves feel powerful.”

It is obvious that Trump's behaviour towards women has angered the First Lady immensely - but why wouldn’t it when she has tried so hard for equality between men and women? Obama told a story about how a 6-year-old boy had said that Trump couldn’t be president because he called someone a piggy. “So even a six-year-old knows better. A six-year-old knows that this is not how adults behave. This is not how decent human beings behave. And this is certainly not how someone who wants to be president of the United States behaves.”

Obama has made her support for Hilary Clinton very clear, even going as far as saying that Clinton is fit to be President more than Barack Obama was. She says that she believes Hilary has strength and compassion, and is the right person for the job. “She is an outstanding mother. She has raised a phenomenal young woman. She is a loving, loyal wife. She’s a devoted daughter who cared for her mother until her final days. And if any of us had raised a daughter like Hilary Clinton, we would be so proud. And regardless of who her opponent might be, no one could be more qualified for this job than Hilary.”

Michelle Obama has been the First Lady for eight years now and is certainly making every last minute count. She has continued to promote education and feminism, along with support for thousands of others. Hilary Clinton has proved she is also about supporting education and health, since she has been helping children with disabilities since she graduated from college.

Obama's devotion to helping people in need has made her time as First Lady extremely worthwhile. Her powerful speech last week has left many people questioning how Trump is even a candidate for president. She has supported Hilary outstandingly, and is known as Clinton’s most powerful voice. Her eight years as FLOTUS has inspired thousands of people around the globe to vote and make their voice be heard.

We’re proud of your dedication, Obama.
